#DakarCaritas2017 The Advantages of federating social structures :Senegal, an example in its fight against Ebola

Today, more than ever, the call of Pope Francis to unite the services of Charity is necessary. Senegal tried it in March 2014. The experience was a great success for Caritas Senegal. Abbé Alphonse Seck, Secretary General of Caritas Senegal mentioned this in his speech during his intervention speech on one of the panels.

The Church of Senegal, through its social structures has supported many needy. However, to be more efficient, all services are called to work together. Senegal has tried to do it in his fight against Ebola in March 2014. "Caritas Senegal, the National Association for the Promotion of Women (ANPF), the National Association of Catholic Health Posts of Senegal (ANPSCS) and the National Office of Catholic Education of Senegal (ONECS), have elaborated and implemented the experience in the seven dioceses of the country mentioned the General Secretary of Caritas Senegal in his communication.

The experience contributed to the implementation of Senegal's response against the Ebola hemorrhagic fever with the commitment of 26 Catholic health posts, 51 Catholic schools and 23 women's promotion centers.

This effort to make all the social structures work enabled "the training of  1412 teachers from 51 schools, 204 supervisors of the women's promotion centers and the teachers of the diocesan teams, 46,900 pupils of 51 schools and 1149 learners from 23 women's promotion centers in the (07) seven dioceses, "says the General Secretary of Caritas Senegal.

In addition to the training, many hygiene kits were distributed. "31 batteries of taps and 10 devices of hand washing, 28 incinerators including 25 with refractory”, have been given as well.

And that's not all; Caritas Senegal has also achieved the building of 2 secluded lodges, beds, office furniture and an incinerator". He adds that from this joint experience of the different social structures, experiences have been gained. To succeed in this challenge, it is necessary "to develop multisectorial, multidisciplinary and multi-actor approaches.
